My name is Maeghan Elise Peterson. I was born on December 20, 1999. Although I was born 4 1/2 weeks early, I got to come home with my mommy on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas with my family. Mommy went through quite a lot to get me here. We knew I was going to be born early, but how early was the question. Mommy started having contractions all the way back in October, so our Dr. put mommy on limited bedrest. As the last part of Mommy's pregnancy came to an end, she started dialating more and more. Scared that I may come out as early as my big brother, Michael did, Mommy finally broke down and told her OB how scared she was. He admitted her into the hospital on December 2nd, 1999. While we were there, mommy was given all types of drugs to stop my labor. At first it seemed to work, but by December 20th, after an amniocentisis revealed that my lungs were mature enough for delivery, and the medications were failing, mommy and the Dr. decided enough was enough. I was born via C-Section at 8:41pm.
I got my name from my late great-grandmother, Dorothy Mae Shaw Miles, Elise is from a little girl my mommy used to babysit, Elise Nicole Ward and from my daddy's headhunter Elise Burrows.
One more year and I’ll be in kindergarten!! I started pre-school this fall with my best friend Justin. He and his family finally moved back to TX from LA. I am soooo excited, although I think my mommy is the most excited of all. Even though we are in different classes, I get to see him and my other best friends, Cassidy and Rachel twice a week! I’m in my second season of soccer. I’m slowly starting to get the hang of it, although I told mommy I wanted to try gymnastics really soon. Especially since I can do a somersault all by myself!
